Marriage equality is very important to me. You cannot deny someone or a couple a fundamental human right under the law. I see no difference between straight, bi, or trans marriages. All should be equal in the eyes of the law.
The US Supreme Court should recognize that the 14th Amendment states “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”
Thus, any law granted to straight couples MUST apply to gay, bi, or trans couples. You cannot grant one group rights while denying those same rights to another. It is unconstitutional.
